When Doubt
Creeps In

For the moment the highlight reel makes you want to give up. Real talk from someone who's been there — and kept going anyway.

A letter from Linsey

I remember exactly when it hit me.

I was scrolling, as you do, and every other post was someone younger than me, someone with a better start in life, someone who'd apparently made a million by lunchtime. The 21-year-old millionaire. The overnight success that quietly took ten years. The curated highlight reel that made my actual life feel like a rough draft.

"It drained me. Made me doubt why I would even bother, when there was someone younger, someone prettier, someone who came from money, blah de blah."

And here's the thing I started to notice. These people, the ones selling the dream, still needed to sell me something. If they were really making a million by lunch, why the £2,000 course? Why the £800 summit? Why the endless ads targeting people who couldn't afford their heating?

Because most of the time, it's just a show. A carefully constructed show designed to make you feel behind so you'll hand over money to catch up.

I would never have started if I'd let those voices live in my head. So I made them leave. And I want to help you do the same.

Because your story, your real, messy, imperfect story, is the thing that will connect with people in a way no highlight reel ever can.

⚡ Let's be honest about this

Instagram is not a documentary. It is a highlight reel. Curated, filtered, timed for maximum impact. The 21-year-old millionaire? Either had money to begin with, or is selling you the idea of being a millionaire because that is how they make money.

The overnight success story? Read the small print. Usually ten years, a lot of failure, and several pivots, just not the content that gets the views.

You are comparing your reality to someone else's performance. It was never a fair comparison.

The scroll tax: Every minute spent consuming someone else's curated success is a minute you didn't spend building your own. The feed isn't neutral, it's designed to keep you watching, comparing, and feeling like you need something you don't have yet.

✏️ Reflect
Which accounts or types of content make you feel the worst about where you are? Be honest.
✏️ Reflect
What story do you tell yourself when you see those posts?

Write it down. See it for what it is. Often the story sounds a lot less convincing when it's out of your head and on paper.

The motto to come back to
"Don't compare yourself with others. They started from nothing, not knowing anything, and built their expertise. I am creating something unique to me. If I'm true to my message, others will see my warmth, my genuine self, and my purpose."
Part one
"Don't compare yourself with others."
They are not your benchmark. They are not your competition. They are on a completely different path, with different starting points, different circumstances, different goals.
Part two
"They started from nothing, not knowing anything."
Everyone who looks like an expert now was once exactly where you are. Confused. Uncertain. Figuring it out as they went. The difference is they kept going anyway.
Part three
"I am creating something unique to me."
There is no one with your exact combination of experience, perspective, personality and purpose. That is not a gap — that is your advantage. No one else can build what you're building.
Part four
"If I'm true to my message, others will see my warmth, my genuine self, and my purpose."
Authenticity doesn't just feel better — it works better. People can tell the difference between a performance and a person. Be the person.
✏️ Your starting point
What did you start with? (Not what you didn't have — what you did.)
✏️ Your edge
What do you know, feel, or understand that no one else quite does — because of everything you've been through?
✏️ Your message
If you strip away all the noise — what is the thing you actually believe in? What are you really here to say?

Keep this. Come back to it. When the doubt creeps in and you start measuring yourself against someone else's highlight reel, come back to what's written here. This is what no one can copy, outspend, or outshine you on — because it's entirely, only, yours.

Scroll past. Fast. You don't have to engage with content that makes you feel small. Your thumb works. Use it. The more you scroll past without stopping, the less the algorithm serves you that content.
Name the comparison. Out loud or in writing, say: "I'm comparing myself to [person], and it's making me feel [feeling]." Naming it takes its power away. It stops being a fact and becomes a thought.
Ask the honest question. "If they're already making a million — why do they need to sell me a £1,000 course?" The answer usually tells you everything.
Stop. Picture the end result. Not someone else's. Yours. Whatever that looks like — the home, the freedom, the impact, the quiet pride of having built something real. Hold that image.
Remember your why. Not the business strategy why. The real why. The one that gets you up before it feels easy.
Do one small thing. Not everything. One thing. Reply to a comment. Write a sentence. Make one connection. Doubt shrinks when you act — even a tiny act counts.
Talk to someone who gets it. Isolation makes doubt louder. Connection makes it quieter. Find your people. (That's literally what FEHQ is for.)
✦ Linsey's why
"For me, it's a first home for my daughter and myself. A warm, mould-free home that will help provide comfort and ground us. Something we have never had. That image is what I come back to when nothing else is working."

That's the kind of why that holds. Not a revenue number. Not a follower count. Something that matters so deeply that no amount of highlight reels can shake it.

✏️ Your why
What is your end result? The real one. The one you picture when you need to remember why this matters.
✏️ Keep it close
Where can you put this — somewhere you'll actually see it when the doubt creeps in?

Come back to this when the doubt creeps in

"Don't compare yourself with others. They started from nothing, not knowing anything, and built their expertise. I am creating something unique to me. If I'm true to my message, others will see my warmth, my genuine self, and my purpose."
