Sarah Flores: A Coach with a Whole Lot of Heart | Female Entrepreneur Spotlight
This month’s spotlight shines on someone who truly embodies what it means to rise — not just in business, but in life. Meet Sarah Flores, the powerhouse behind HER WORK with Sarah Flores, a coaching practice built on real lived experience, evidence-based science, and a whole lot of heart.
Sarah’s journey has taken her through emergency medicine, travel nursing, yoga studios, dance floors, and beyond — and it’s exactly that richness of experience that makes her the coach she is today. After pouring herself into a career that ultimately left her burnt out and running on empty, Sarah did what so many of us dream of but few dare to do: she chose herself. She rebuilt, she healed, and now she’s dedicating her work to helping driven women do the same.
If you’ve ever felt like life is running you instead of the other way around, or you know deep down you’re meant for more but can’t quite figure out how to get there — Sarah’s story is going to resonate. Pull up a chair, because this one is worth reading.

About You & Your Journey
Can you tell us a little about yourself and your background?
Hi, I am Sarah Flores and I have worked in emergency medicine for 15 years, if you count when I started volunteering on the ambulance. I have been grateful to hold many positions in my lifetime from emergency medical technician, behavioral health recovery coach, yogi, registered nurse, dance teacher, DJ, writer, entrepreneur, health coach, Reiki practitioner, psychology student, research student, assistant director of nursing, and still growing, always. From my childhood experiences to now is what led me to coach driven women to step into their highest self, breaking up with unfulfilled positions that these women have grown out of. Maybe they are burnt out, fed up with the way they feel their life is running them, never having time or energy for what really matters — themselves and loved ones. They know they are meant to do more, but the way they are approaching it has too grown past them. Together I strategize with these women to build an individual plan, supporting where they are now so they may step into their full potential to live a life that not only works with them but reignites their passions for every season of life.
Was there a defining moment when you decided to start your business?
Yes, after COVID-19 and a few years of travel nursing, when the pandemic began to dissolve, I was completely burnt out. But that is just a small way to describe putting 15 years of emergency medicine into a word that doesn’t suffice. I was destroyed mentally, physically, spiritually.
At this point I was deep into my healing journey, coming from negative childhood experiences that seeped into my adulthood. I was in a fight, it felt like, to continue to grow and step into the version of myself I always knew was there. She was just buried underneath traumatizing experiences. At this point, after the pandemic and travel nursing, I saw that something had to change. I had been relieved of my burial, as best as one can, and said this is enough — I poured myself into my career and healing. I’m meant for more. I love to help people but not under the condition to destroy myself in the process. I started writing my book, a memoir fusion of self-help and research, still in progress. This work really made me see, pen to paper, that wow — I have an idea. This is when I opened up my business, HER WORK with Sarah Flores, to help women do exactly what I have achieved. This life is so beautiful — what the failed system has done is not our punishment. We are all deserving of a beautiful life and to be the woman of your dreams.

Who has been your biggest influence or mentor along the way?
My best friend, my dance partner, who after 3 years of being able to travel around the world for dance, became my partner in life. David has always been inspiring to me, even the day I met him in the back of a bar in NYC — strangers who met dancing.
David has worked in corporate in NYC for years, and he’s good at it. He knows how to speak the speak and meet the deadlines. As he worked in Meta, he has helped me with this in more ways than I thought I needed. Comparatively, I have worked in the pits, it feels like — emergency medicine. No deadlines, just delegation, reprioritization, save lives, and repeat. Two different worlds. Even as friends we helped each other bridge these ways of performing and working together. This has helped me understand greatly how to move up in life. For someone who has seen hospital walls half of their life, this was monumental.
David has supported me every step of the way, not only as a partner but as a mentor, someone I look up to.
How do you balance your personal life with running a business?
Time management for sure is the first step — knowing what my time is for. Is it for me? Fitness? Business? Family? Partner? I try not to blur them; boundaries are important.
Asking myself what am I feeling today? Am I tired? Cranky? Passionate? Motivated? Creative? I might have a day set out for me but if I’m leaning towards cranky, maybe because I’m sick, I take it easy — I order myself food. I delegate tasks that can be costly, yes, but it frees up my physical or mental energy. For example, I’d rather not cook if I’m sick — I can order food for the day and work on a small task first, see how I feel. Knowing that it’s okay to reprioritize in the middle — where’s my energy at now and how can I work with what my body is telling me?

About Your Business
Can you describe what your business does in one sentence?
Coaching driven women to step into their full potential, so that their built success works with them.
What sets your business apart from others in your industry?
Not only is my business built on real lived experiences but also evidence-based science — training from my years in emergency medicine, psychology, and movement. I focus on embodied change by providing support and safety to the nervous system, focusing on flow states, letting go, feminine restoration, while together with my clients rediscovering their internal blueprint.
How has your business evolved since you started?
Yes, I believe a business is always evolving if you put love and care into it. Your business grows with you and your seasons of life.
Entrepreneur Mindset & Advice
How do you stay motivated during difficult times?
How I stay motivated during difficult times is to remember I have handled harder things. I think about some of my hardest days in nursing — I know I’m capable of more than that. I remind myself why I’m on this journey.
Positive self-talk during hard times is so important; your body remembers how you treat it. If you give into those negative feelings they will take over your drive, passion, motivation, goals, ambition — the list goes on. It’s okay to have negative thoughts, we all do. But which ones do you need to put into perspective and give yourself grace, and which are the ones that are trying to teach you something? Maybe you could use improvement, maybe you need to learn more in this area — that’s okay. We are all learning and all can improve. It’s what you do with this information that is transformative. You let it take you down, or you use the negative to motivate you — whether to learn something that’s needed or to give yourself grace. You’re doing great!
Are there any routines, habits, or tools that help you stay productive?
Listening to what my body wants, always! If I need rest I rest, if I need movement I move, if I’m unsure I eat a snack and see — well, maybe I can do something in between, like a walk while listening to music.
Yoga and meditation are my go-to. They have saved my life more than once.
What’s the best piece of business advice you’ve ever received?
If you’re unsure about something, put yourself in situations that allow you to speak to others, whether it’s networking or community building. Different perspectives conjure creativity.
What advice would you give to someone just starting their entrepreneurial journey?
Planning is good, but action is better. Little starts and wins matter. Create momentum — don’t let it just sit in your notes on your phone, in a journal, or in your mind. Get it out into the world. You will always make mistakes; become friends with it, make it your superpower.

Future & Vision
Where do you want to see yourself and your business in the future?
I see my business in the future not only doing 1:1 private coaching but group coaching, online modules, and HER WORK events for business owners. Releasing my book into the world to share my story — I know it’s a story worth reading.
I see myself living my dream, traveling the world with the love of my life while helping women all over the world gain the power I harnessed from my journey.
Are there any upcoming projects or launches you’re excited about?
I am accepting new clients for my private 1:1 coaching! This is super exciting for me, to help more women from anywhere in the world. You can book a free consultation on my website withsarahflores.com or find me on Instagram @with.sarahflores for more educational content.
What legacy would you like your business to leave?
Successful women can have the version of themselves they have always dreamed of. They can have anything they put their minds to. Transforming your nervous system to work with you will unleash power you never thought was possible.
Fun & Personal Touch
Do you have a favorite book, podcast, or resource that inspires you?
Gosh, I have so many — one comes to mind: Untamed by Glennon Doyle.
How do you celebrate wins, big or small?
I do a little dance! Every little win, no matter how small. It has trained my nervous system to be okay with the losses, knowing that another little dance will come soon — it always does!
What’s your mantra, motto, or favorite quote?
What keeps returning is asking to be understood.
